Shocks

Am looking for some recommendations for shocks for my 77 CJ-5. I am running 33's with a 4" lift.

Any hydraulic shock, stay away from gas-charged shocks as they generally ride rough for a leaf spring Jeep.

you need to first find out how long of a shock you need. I learned years ago (maybe things have changed) that alot of companies that sell kits with included shocks will just grab any shock that will fit and not nessisarily the right shock for that lift. The best thing to do is take your jeep somewhere where you can flex the suspension front and rear until the tires just start to lift off the ground, get out your tape measure and measure from your top shock mount to the bottom shock mount on the flexed side and the compressed side and do the same in the rear. this will tell you how far your new shocks need to travel, then call where you are going to buy your shocks and tell them the measurements. This way you get the full use of your new suspension travel.
