I need a little help, still looking for a jeep. Might of found the right one. But need some advise. the good 79 cj7 frame powercoated, body fair, the bad has a three speed manual, do you guys know if all of these came with quadatrac?? he also said it has dana44's front and rear, is that possible? and lastly has a 304 in it, will a 350 bold up or will i need an adapter? I don't know a lot about jeeps but I do know about 4x4's. I think that is it for now, thanks in advance.

:?| whats wrong with the 304 ? i "think " most quadratracs were bolted up to autos but i may be wrong.

3spd manual should not be Quadratrac, should have the Dana20 transfer case with an AMC20 rear axle and a D30 front axle.

A 350 will not bolt inplace of a 304 without a bellhousing adapter or use of a GM transmission.

D44's are a common swap, especially from a Scout or even a Waggy.

The 3 speed is fine if you are mostly going to do drive on the road. In combination with the 2:1 Dana 20, it's worthless off road. If the 304 runs well, then you might opt to leave it in. You can swap in a T18 with granny low that will mate to the Dana 20 or find a 4 speed T176 with a Dana 300 transfer case. The T176 has a moderate low range but works well with the 2.6:1 Dana 300.
