    TJ front pinion seal ?

2004 TJ X had the front pinion seal go out. Still under warranty so I had the dealer replace it. Anything I need to be wary of....keep an eye out for to make sure this was done right? I've read a few of the old forum posts on the topic and there appears to be some talk about making sure the...

    New to Jeeps

Welcome Jason. This is THE place to be for info and everything else Jeep related. I tried out a couple of Jeep sites before this one a couple of years ago....and I can say this one is the best. Good people....helpful....knowledgeable...you name it. My two cents on your 31" dillema? I bought...

    New career--math teacher

Thanks for the support. It's definitely going to be a challenge...but also very rewarding. I lucked out with a pretty good school. Maybe I'll cook up an Algebra lesson on changing gear ratios or even a Geometry lesson on angles of approach and breakover angles. We gotta get them new Jeepers...

    New career--math teacher

Hey everyone! I'm starting my 2nd (okay 3rd) career next week. I'm going to be a high school mathematics teacher. I'm really looking forward to this. I wanted to get the Jeep community's opinion on teaching and teachers.

    $1400 3" Body Lift

That's not a typo. But you may have guessed...it's the dealer installed price. No, I didn't go asking. We were at the mall last night and the local Jeep dealer had a new 2005 Wrangler on display with some dealer installed extras. 2005 Wrangler SE, Auto, I-6, 3.73 gears at $21,170 PLUS all...

    Uneven brake shoe wear

Gadget, I just reread the other thread again slowly. (I'm a fast read, then a half-fas$t read, then a slow read kind of guy.) You stated the following in that thread... "It is inherent to the "self-servo' design that the trailing brake shoe actually provides most of the stopping power. Hence...

    Uneven brake shoe wear

It is a "leading" and "trailing" shoe issue. "Leading" rear shoes are wearing faster than "trailing" rear shoes. (Drums in the back...disc up front.) Thanks Gadget for the old thread. There is some great info in there but it is a little bit different issue.

    Uneven brake shoe wear

Pulled the rear brake drums off today to clean 'em. Typical 5,000 mile routine for me. I noticed that on both sides of the vehicle that the shoes toward the front are wearing quicker than the shoes toward the rear. It looks pretty similar on both (left/right) sides of the vehicle. This is the...

    4wd on pavement, now what...

MPG? Left the baby in 4wd on pavement for about 4 miles. I was running about 45mph for the trip. Pretty much straight road...curves, but no turns. When I noticed I dropped it back into 2 HIGH. Got her into the garage a few minutes later. I smelled what seemed to me something "sickly sweet."...

New socks and shoes for the Jeep

I picked up the 4 Canyon rims and centercaps on Ebay for $221 plus shipping. Two of them are mint. Two of them have minor scratches in the clear coat....but you have to get pretty close to tell. That's $56 a rim. In my opinion....pretty sweet. Factory look, factory fit, factory offset (the...

New socks and shoes for the Jeep

RE: ABS Vibration no light Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there! Got some new rims and tires for the Jeep. We're now on OEM Canyons 15x8's (Ebay) and BFG Land Terrain 31x10.5's. Nothing too crazy...but the Jeep looks better...rides better...and, of course, we picked up another inch of...

Should I use this old tire?

I am sure you boyz can help this chick out *Smile* Okay....buddy of mine gave me a BF Goodrich Mud Terrain 30x9.5 that he has had in his garage for ages. The tire is in new condition. The blue stuff over the white letters and the little nubs on the outside. BUT...based on the DOT code the tire...

    BFG tires

Don't mean to hijack here...but regarding BFG Mud's and WalMart. I called my local WalMart and they said that they can special order the BFG Mud's. Their price was within $5 per tire as tirerack.com, but...of course with WalMart you don't pay shipping! Also...and here's the big news to...

    4.0L operating temp

RE: high beams work, low beams won Here's another thought...we have a 2004 TJ 4.0L When we bought it, it ran at 210 to 215 degrees. However, once we changed to a synthetic blend engine oil the operating temp dropped under 210...somewhere down to about 200 I'd guess by the guage. Not a...

    Liberator AT tires? Thoughts?

Anyone have experience or thoughts on the Liberator AT tires? I'm looking at some 31x10.5x15's. The Liberator AT is only sold at Walmart. I do know it's made by BFG which is a subsidiary of Michelin. It also has 16/32's tread to start in this size. I don't need a mud terrain tire. But I'd like...

Never owned a Jeep. Tell me why I should buy one

Based on your description of what activities you'll be doing, the Rubicon may be a bit overkill from the start. BUT...as many can attest...no matter what level of Jeep you buy you are going to add upgrades, modifications, etc...etc....etc....much to the chagrin of your spouse. What I'm trying to...
