Alternator Size?

Does anyone know the amperage on a 98' wrangler sport, between the 6 lights i have running and 2 amplifiers it pulls more from my battery than my alt can keep up with them so im looking into a new one any suggestions?

Most aftermarket radio installers sometimes use an extra battery, kind of like with the hydraulic suspensions, in order to make sure you always have the juice needed to power every thing. Depending on your battery, going with a larger alternator may not be a good idea because you can overcharge a battery and then it will explode. (Not fun, but it is loud with lots of smoke and acid gets every where)

Hope that helps.

A good investment would be a 130 amp. alternator and a Deepcycle Gell Battery. I got my Alternator And Battery from NAPA .

Any way to run to alternators and 2 batteries.My silly jeep has ac,really dump idea if you ask me.i would like to remove the ac pump and add an alt and a second battery to help with power issues for lights and winch

That's what i'm running on, 130 amp alternator an 2 Gell Batteries. Painless Wiring sells the automatic Battery switch. This powers up all my Overhead Lamps with Landing light bulbs and the Winch.

You can upgrade to a 136a alternator from late '90s Dodge fullsize truck and van.

You are looking for an OEM 136 amp alternator (PN:56027913) that was an option on the following vehicles:

* 1997-1998 Dodge B.Series Van

* 1997-1998 Dodge Dakota

* 1998 Dodge Durango

* 1997-1998 Dodge Ram Pickup

* 1997-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

thanks for all ya'lls replys i have a 1020 amp intestate battery right now i have an extra battrey and i thought about hooking it up but never got around to it i might tomorrow hook it up yeah it was so bad one time i was sitting at a red light listening to my music loudly with all the lights on and my engine stalled ha and SteelHeadz i thought the jeeps came with a alt. about that size already on them

Your stock one is probably 90a max. The above mentioned 136a is a bolt-in.

well i went to jeep.com and asked them if i could get a list of everything that came factory with it and found alot of interesting things turns out the alt. is 117 amp wow shocker i know

Mine is oput of the 98 5.9L grand, slight mods, but none the less, bolt in.

6 Lights.. wow, you lighting up a football field

yeah they come in very handy on these foggy nights

I found out why my alt. wasn't charging as good, the wire going from the fuse box to the alt. was just all ate up. So here's some pics as to what I've done,first pic is the old wire, second new wire in place, and 3rd is my gauge a little over 14, it used to be under 14.
