grab handles that you can actually grab

i searched for a few days tryingto find some solid grab handles because i was not really a fan of the ones that velcro on or are buckled on since they really move alot when you are holding them, and they get sun damaged. i wanted something solid that i could hang onto if i really needed to. i finally found something.

these are synergy brand solid grab handles and i found them from poly performance. they have them for all hte different model wranglers and they are only 69 bucks. which is only about 10 or 20 bucks more then the other style grab handles, depending on where you purchase those other styles from. they also make a weld in type for a more permanent grab handle. i wanted a bolt in though.

anyways, on to the pics:

they come in a standard cardboard box and are only 3 pounds or so. ups said they were due tomorrow but they showed up a day early. inside the box they are wrapped in plastic wrap and packaged in peanuts with picture instructions.

here is a shot sans wrapping

they bolt in using this lower windshield bolt and the back end wraps over the header bar.

beware of stripping out those stupid torx bolts. that factory bolt is something like a t30 or t35 but since i rounded it off, i used a little larger one and a hammer to get that stupid thing out.

you install the grab handle finger tight and then tighten up slowly making sure the aluminum clamp stays solidly around the header bar. it uses an allen wrench that i failed to check what size it was.

when you get htem clamped and tightened down, you can rock the whole jeep with it, easily

here are shots from different angles for you guys viewing pleasure

i really like them. you can hang your hand on them while driving and when you are climbing in, they do not move or swing around. cristina said they are very nice too as she was the one complaining about not having something to grab while getting in the jeep.

i like them.

i find myself using the one by me while driving just to rest my arm. i loosely hang my fingers and arm while cruising so i am not leaning in my center console when i am relaxed driving. hopefully, that helps with my elbow hurting from the doors when they are on too because i always have my arm on the door and since sometimes i do long bouts of driving, my arm would get sore and numb from the elbow area. this should prevent that issue.

I like to look of those SuperJ. I've got some paracord ones myself that are nice, but yours look like a more long term solution.

i really liked the paracord ones but they just didn;t look like if you went sideways or top down, they would keep your arm inside the cabin. at least with these, if i don;t let go in reflex, my hands won;t swing out and get caught under the roll bar if it flips.

i am going to check out the other link too. it was not easy to find nice bolt on metal grab handles

ok, and for anyone wondering, they do not get hot when sitting outside. the top covers them enough that they are never in direct sunlight
