High tech twist on a old school mod!

I just ordered my electronic exhaust dump-out (exhaust cut-out) I am going to try to put it between the cat and muffler (provided anough room) the wire to a switch. Driving on the streets, nice and quiet, flick a switch and, "what can't hear you over that awesomely loud jeep" Found a good deal on one, $80. But it only has the Y fitting and the electric manifold, and is weld in only. I am going to fab up some high exit pipes for it.

I have a pair of those on my 67 mustang, but they wern't auto... I had to crawl underneath and take a plate off each side. The one you have is electric? Never seen one of those, I have seen one with a cable but I hear they break easy... I wanna see pics when your done!

I can only get one. It is kinda used. put on to a show car, but never wired. And they threw in a flowtech Y fitting, $80 cause I also traded a 41 plymouth complete dash.


As for legallity, there is no law about possesion, just use, and this is a strickly off road usage.

Back pressure, the cat should provide enough back pressure

if it is used for street racing... the intimidation factor rises a lot.... we need to find a 3" dump for the camaro we just supercharged.... he's blowing header gaskets weekly, or more.... even with NO cat, and a good free flowing muffler, he's still go too much backpressure

First, if your blowing head gaskets, turn the boost down a bit. If it is a 9:1 compression (stock f-body lt1) too much boost will detonate the motor. Do you have some type or retarding mechanism?
Running long tube headers?

I don't think too much backpressure is what is causing a blown head gasket. Is there liquid coming from the exhaust pipe, and is there a anti-freeze smell in the exhaust (don't spend too much time sniffing)?

not head gaskets.. header gaskets/exhaust gaskets... we've looked into it all... we know the motor is safe... we just can't get enough of the exhaust to go where it belongs

For the Header gaskets I would look into metal ones. We just got them in at autozone. They are supposedly soft metal and can be reused over and over again. It might be worth a shot. They are not behind the counter then are in Isle 6 with the chrome perforance stuff.

What engine are you running in it, and what size are the headers? My favorite solution to a problem like that would be to dump the rest of the exhaust system, and just run the headers :lol:

That would be sweet having an electronic dump. Pull up to someone at a traffic light...rev it up a few times, then open it up and rev it...that would give them a little supprise :shock:
