pinion angle help

What is a easy way to rotate a front dana 44? I want to remove the outers and reweld them on to set caster angle at 6 degrees and rotate the pinion angle up higher to prevent binding. The axle is a chevy 44 full width. I have been told to grind the welds and beat the crap out of it with a sledge hammer until they come loose. And some people say to heat them up with a torch to seperate. Thanks

How much lift do you have that you're getting binding?

You have to grind through most of the weld and then sledge the inner C off the axletube.

You dont have to remove them to turn them, just get the weld all the way through and heat the tubes throughly. Works best with the axle under the vehicle with your pinion already set to where it needs to be. Then you can set your proper caster.

I have 2 1/2" leafs spring over. I think it is about 8-9" over stock. I am going to change the leafs out for a set of coilovers that I have. Thanks for the help.
