im repairing my friends jeep and the last problem i have to fix is the clutch. the clutch has at some point been converted from a internal slave to a external. the external doesnt seem to have a bleed screw but im pretty sure i have it completly bleed out. now the problem - replaced fluid and bleed clutch which looked like it had small rubber parts in the fluid then every thing was fine for a few hours in the mud (not much gear changing) then the clutch wouldnt disengage with out pumping the peddle. bleed again and again got about 1 hour out of it. the slave isnt leaking so im wondering if the master cyclinder is the problem. any ideas.

replaced the master and the clutch it is a lot lighter now and shifts easy. the mossys were getting bad so i didnt get a chance to pull the old master to pieces but im sure that the seals are bad due to the amount of rubber pieces in the oil. something strange i noticed is the rubber cap that fits in the top of the old master is like twice the size it should have been. is there a certain dot brake fluid that you shouldnt use on jeeps?

Don't mix the others with DOT 5! Any kind of oil contamination (even severe blowby from your motor) will cause the seals to swell and disintegrate.
