    annoyed with the motorcraft

Every time i have ever replaced a carb and it had a thick (roughly .25") gasket i have had to retighten the carb bolts after the first few hours of use because the gasket seems to shrink causing vacuum leaks. I wouldnt jump into rtv'ing it down. I avoid rtv whenever possible. It looks sloppy and...

What emissions can i remove for more HP

Emissions may be a part of the hp loss but there also was a point in the 70s when the manufacturers changed the way hp was rated. Previously they dyno pulled them bare, no emissions, no fan, no alternator, etc. Then they changed that to dyno testing an engine the way it actually is in the...

    Weber carb

I swapped a 2100 on to my 258 last winter. It was a pretty easy swap and it was super easy to rebuild. I did need the adapter plate and had to modify the throttle linkage but it was pretty easy.I learned everything I needed to know about the rebuild and which 2100 to use from pirate4x4, theres a...

    Sputtering at speeds over 40

You can test the converter by either loosening the exhaust where the manifold meets the pipe or remove the o2 sensor in front of the cat. If it runs better like that then you know its the converter.

    Lockers and gears

If you wanna do it cheap and you don't trust your mechanical abilities, buy a set of 4 cyl axles, they have the 4.10s. Most people who do driveline swaps practically give them away. Save your old axles then if anything breaks youve got spare parts. I ran a d35 and d30 with a locker in the rear...

ok ? whats the benifit of a ford 8.8 rear end

The biggest reasons people use them is because A) Strength upgrade, supposed to be somewhere between a dana 44 and dana 60 B) The disc brake thing C) Same lug pattern as a jeep. Put it in and you can use your stock wheels. D) Width is pretty close to the jeep axle, so your wheels arent sticking...

    Qtrac YJ

I rebuilt my qtrac tcase and i'm just gonna run it and see how it holds up. From what i've read the chain is the weak point and thats because they never get replaced and they stretch/jump teeth/blow big chunks outta the case. Well i put a new one in so i think i'll be good. Plus i'm not pushing...

    Qtrac YJ

I figured it was time for an update. Rebuilt the the transfer case and installed a new chain a few months ago and that was fairly painless. Then not long ago while stuck in the bottom of a drainage ditch trying to free myself the transmission started whining and there was long pause after I...

a cummins going into a TJ

I don't think a 6 cyl cummins is a good idea at all. Its a great engine but yes, way too heavy and way too much power for the drivetrain. A 4 cyl cummins would be alot better, but still would probably be too much power for the stock drivetrain, and you would really have to know what you were...

Throw out bearing and clutch replacement

I just checked Mitchell and the job flat rates out at 4.7 hours. I would definitely install an entire clutch kit and not just the bearing. Check around on prices for the clutch kit, sometimes you can get them from the chrysler dealership for around the same price as aftermarket but not always...

    Steering Pump Noise when turned...

Most power steering pumps do make noise at full lock and that is normal but you should only hear it there. If it is making noise when steering in the middle of its travel you probably have a pump going out.
