Electrical issues -- '03 Rubicon

I just bought a 2003 Rubicon and the stock fog lights don't work... along with button in the door frame that allows the interior lights to come on when the doors are open ... and the chime sound when you leave your lights on after the engine is off does not alarm.

Is this a common problem? Has anyone run into this issue? Do you think the issues are related?

The farthest I have got on diagnosing the fog light issue is... I get power to the fuse, but it never makes it back to the relay. I stopped short of pulling the steering column apart and messing with the wire harness. Needless to say, I get no power to the lights either. Can you guide me down the right road?

It's most likely that your multifunction switch is at fault, but i could be wrong. here's the schematic diagrams for you to trace out the circuits and diagnose it. On the second wiring diagram, if you jump the multifunction switch circuit wt/or and pk/lt gr , you would have by bypassed that switch. if the lamp turns on, you need a multifunction switch.

My switch went out in mine and it caused the fog, park, and interior lights to go out, but the head lights still came on. I just wired up a switch to my dash that cuts my lights on, saved me $70 for a switch =]

There is a 10 amp fuse in the fuse box behind the glove compartment which runs the dome switch/key chime circuit. It is in the lower right side of the box. To take off your doors you are supposed to remove the fuse. This will disable the door switches. Someone might have pulled it before you got the Jeep. Best of luck - John

Mikey thanks for the schematics. They were a big help. I think my multi-function switch is bad. I traced power to the switch, but no return power.

John, you were right on. The 10A fuse was missing. Thanks.

I still can't get the audible alert when the lights are left on. I'm not going to battle that project till I fix the multi-function switch... I think they may be related.
