I don't have anything to add, but I do like your question, and am curious to see what more knowledgeable others will have to say. I'm in the process of trying to "speed" up my XJ as well, so any advice will definitely be appreciated.

all the XJ's I've had have had over 250K miles on 'em before I got rid of 'em and they still ran good, and I beat on mine, if this one's clean and has been well maintained, I'd say go for it, and like someone else said, you can buy a replacement drive train for it if it blows up, or part it out...

I guess I'm pretty lucky living in KS, we only have to get vehicles inspected if they're bought from another state, and I've NEVER been hassled about anything that I've added or done to my vehicles, including fog lights, and KC Dayliters, or tires that stick out farther than the fender flares...

They're the Authority's, and they look like way more mud tire than a/t tire. Personally, I've never been a fan of Goodyears except the original MT/R's, those were sweet, but the Goodyears I've had did not last very long at all, talking about street/car tires not off road tires. Just wondering...

I can't remember the exact name of the tire, but they look pretty sweet, and they're a good price too, I think they're $130 for a 31x10.50, kinda remind me of the Toyo's but they're about half the price,lol.

Royal Purple is good stuff, but I always use Lucas in all my vehicles, and I ALWAYS add a quart of stabilizer when I change my oil too, I've had really good luck with it, personally I've never used Royal Purple, but I've heard nothing but good things about it, it's just a bit pricey for me,lol...

The SM465 has a CRAZY low first/granny gear, I would think 4.10's with that transmission and 40's would be a great combo for mud, especially with a healthy 330 horse 350, sounds like it'll be a lot of fun once you get it put together. You might wanna try to beef up that D44 as much as you can...

and as far as street suspension, I highly doubt you'll find anyone that makes it for an XJ, you could check with Eibach and see, but I'd imagine you'll have to pay someone a small fortune for custom built coils/leafs. If you're gonna put that much money into something for the street, I'd sell...

Personally, I like superchargers better, I LOVE hearing that loud blower whine, but turbo's are pretty cool too. If you're gonna run a blower, you better rebuild your motor with LOW compression pistons, don't know about Jeeps, but I know with a SBC you want about 7-1 compression just so you...
