    JK Info Please

Howdy, While the reincarnation of my '79 CJ5 goes on (labor of love) I am thinking of trading my '05 GMC Yukon. I have always liked the new JKs but I know very little about them. I will be buying one used, can't afford the new ones. I would like to get a little feedback from someone who isn't...

    Need TFI Help

Changed the ignition to TFI in our 79 CJ5 when we put on the MC2500 carb two years ago. Has been working out real good until now. Gassed up the other day and when I restarted the engine it ran for a minute and died. Will not restart. Did all the usual troubleshooting and can't solve the problem...

    4.2 L I-6 Re-man

Under the heading of "Gee, I didn't see that one coming".... I was going to rebuild the 4.2L in my '79 CJ 5 this winter. Meant it to be a learning experience for me and my youngest son. The Jeep will be his some day anyway. Then I had a major heart attack last week and things got a little...

    CJ steering problem....HELP!!!

OK, 1979 CJ5 has steering problem that is making me berserk and my mechanic run and hide when he sees me coming. The Jeep goes straight down the road no problem, but when any steering correction is needed it “darts” so quickly it is a little scary. Great fun when making a sweeping turn at...

    '96 Grand Cherokee electrical snafu

My son recently bought ’96 Grand Cherokee Limited, (first car). Gets repeated intermittent service warnings; “Service 4WD Switch”, “Rear Lamp Failure”, “Coolant Sensor Bad”. Also Headlights will occasionally go off when he steps on brakes and headlights are on “auto” position. Multiple other...

    CJ 5 body mods

I haven't researched this much so if this is a stupid question I'm blaming it on the heat. Can anyone tell me why I couldn't modify the tub on my '79 CJ5 to accept CJ7 doors? I mean without using duct tape. signguy

    Looking for tires and wheels

OK, here's what I would like to find, but I would settle for something close... three (3) 10x15x31" BFG A/T with three (3) 10x15 8 spoke chrome wheels, 5 on 51/2". Am building a trailer and I plan to use the same size tires as I have on the old '79 CJ5. One will be a spare. Any help will be...

    Gas Mileage

I have a 79 CJ 5 with a 258 I6 that was swapped in before I bought it. I have replaced the old BDL carb with the MC 2500, did the Nutter bypass, and installed HEI ignition. Just curious what other CJ owners are getting for gas mileage with or without similar mods. Have heard of folks running...

    Signguy

Not exactly new to Jeepz, used it a bunch to help be sort out some of the problems with this poor ol' 79 CJ I recently bought. It's been rode hard, put away wet, used and abused. But we are reviving it to it's former glory... one paycheck at a time. Just moved to the Show Me State from Alaska...

    The carburetor saga moves on....

First, Thanks for all the great advice on replacing the old Carter on my 79 CJ5. Have an MC2100 upgrade kit and distributor on the way. Can't wait to get this old Jeep running again. Been two weeks trying to fix all the engine issues from the kid I bought it from. Some folks should never be...

    What a Mess!

Hope I can find a little help sorting out a 1979 CJ 5 258 I6 that I just bought. First, the carb does not appear to be the one that should be on this rig. It is the Carter BDL but it has a bunch of wires and vacuum tubes that don't connect to any thing at all. It also has the little white plug...
