Educate me on an Aussie locker.

After a less than ideal experience in the woods last week, I think I need to invest in a minor upgrade for my Jeep. I'm looking at a locker for the front axle, but I like to know how things work before I put them on. Taking an Aussie locker for an example, how do they work? In 2wd, is it totally...

    Parking light/turn signal socket

Does anyone have a good part number for the light socket for the front turn signal/parking lamp? I'm not having much luck yet and really don't want to go to the local dealer. I have to go through their books to show them what I want if I buy from them. No Jeep people there.

    Allstate Gear? for ax5 parts

Has anyone dealt with Allstate Gear? Looks like they deal a lot on ebay. My AX5 synchros are going out and I have another one I'm getting ready to rebuild to put in it. After taking it apart, I found the input shaft gear has several partly broken teeth. They have the input shaft, but it runs...

    Oil pressure sending unit

95 YJ with 2.5 liter. When I bought the jeep a few weeks ago, I noticed that the gauge wasn't working. I just haven't bought a new sending unit yet. Today I noticed drops of oil when I pulled into the garage and a puddle under the jeep after sitting a few hours. Looks like oil is running down...

    Gone, but not for long

I sold my 87 YJ nearly a year ago and thought that was it. I'm back with a 95 4 cylinder again. Probably a whole new set of problems to deal with too. Oh well, I missed my Jeep.8)

    87 Hard Top

Did a dumb thing and sold my 87 Wrangler. The new owner never picked up the hard top. It is now for sale. Asking $350. The only things wrong with it is the rear window defroster wires are not connected and the inside light cover is missing. Black. It's in Texarkana, Arkansas.

    AX15 bearing

Attempted to pull the rear bearing from the input shaft today using a press and bearing splitter. First the splitter wouldn't fit between the bearing and first gear. There is a very small amount of separation to work with there. We finally got it to grip. Next we applied the 25 ton press. The...

My luck ran out. Transmission problem.

The jeep's been running good for several months. Today it gave me a new noise. On the way home, running in 5th gear, I started hearing a loud rattling noise and felt it in my shifter. It goes away when I downshift to 4th. I have a good idea what it is, but want to see what others say. It's an AX15.

    Pinion nut torque.

I've found a problem with my rear pinion yoke. A new one is on the way along with a new seal. I've searched here and elsewhere and am getting a host of conflicting information. My Haynes book says to torque to 17 ft/lbs in the specs. Then, in the instructions, it says to check what the preload...

    Clutch

Has anyone had any experiences with the Omix-Ada clutch disc and pressure plate? I'm dropping the transmission this week to see why it started slipping after just a few thousand miles and will probably have to replace it. It's a daily driver and not used for heavy off-road abuse, so I'm not...

    Clutch question

I have an 87 4.2 that I've been running an AX15 with an external slave for a couple of years. There's only about 5000 miles on the clutch. I've noticed lately that I only have to barely push the pedal to engage the clutch. It wasn't that way to begin with. I know when the fluid is low or the...

    MC2100 jet question

After getting the top and doors off, I've been smelling a strong, rich exhaust odor. More so than when I had a weber on the motor. I thought I would check to see what size jets the MC2100 has in it. Both of them have been stamped very off center as to the size. I have what looks like the top of...

    4.2 intake water fitting

I need the fitting at the front of a 4.2 intake for the water. I have one at the back and didn't know what it was until a friend asked why I wasn't heating my intake. My front hole just has a plug in it. PM me or email LAH2420@yahoo.com. Thanks

    Carb and Timing issue

On to the next problem!! I've had my MC2100 on for about a tank and a half of gas now. Starts great. Runs better than the Weber did. But it flat out sucks gas. The first full tank got less than 10 mpg. The Weber got 12 to 15, depending on how I drove it. The Carter before that got 15 to 17. I...

    Spring replacement problem

I just got the first rear spring off tonight on the driver's side. I compared the old and new springs and everything lined up. When I went to mount the spring, I could align the pin on the spring pack with the hole in the bottom of the axle bracket and could put the rear shackle on. The front...

    Dieseling after MC2100 install

Just installed an MC2100 this afternoon. When I took it for a drive, after running a while it will diesel on shutdown. I also noticed my temp is about 10 to 15 degrees hotter than with the Weber. Here's everything I know right now--- Carb came off of a 90 model with 4.2. Previous owner said he...

    Nutter question

I just tried the nutter bypass on my 87 4.2. I am running a Weber 32/36 and an rv cam as the only mods to the engine. When I swapped the wires, I also moved the vacuum advance to the ported outlet on the carb as per instructions. When I went to set timing, it would only advance to 6*BTDC. And...
